Volunteers

Our supporters come from all over the UK and Ireland and from all walks of life. Here are a few of the reasons they decided to become a volunteers with Knitted Knockers UK

Recently I was diagnosed with breast cancer and heard about KKUK through a support group. I was immeadiately struck by the kindness, generosity and love of the ladies involved. And I realised how important a soft, comfortable, lightweight, made to measure prosthesis can be to the recipient. I consider myself lucky to be able to create something personal and unique which hopefully brings a tiny measure of happiness and comfort to some very special ladies.

Each and every knocker is made with love, filled with hope.

"Being a member of Knitted Knockers allows me to help others with the things that were not available when my Mum and sister needed them. It is my payback and I know that I can make someone's life a little easier while they are on their journey. I make it with love and fill it with hope every time."

" I found out about KK by accident after I got chatting to a group member on a camp site last summer. I've always been a fanatical knitter but often run out of things to knit. "Knockers! " she proudly exclaimed and by tea time I'd applied to join the group. You have to have your knitting approved because all the knockers must be to the same standard so it's very satisfying when you pass and can knit for other women. I've not had Breast cancer but women close to me have so it's a charity dear to my heart. This is an amazing little charity to be a part of. The other women are incredibly supportive of one another and it's hugely satisfying to know that my knitting addiction is helping someone have a bit of a better life. I love it! "

" For me working with KKUK started after three close friends were diagnosed with BC. Very quickly I learnt that it is a two way street. The ladies who receive the knockers and what it means to them and the humbling and emotional feeling at the end of the day when you realise you have made a difference."
